Melbourne Cup Carnival Recap

And just like that, the Melbourne Cup Carnival is DONE and DUSTED! What a ride it’s been for our team. From late night prepping, deliveries, setting up machines, roasting, branding and more deliveries, it’s hard to believe it’s all come to an end!

As the official coffee partner of Victoria Racing Club, we set out on a mission to deliver our EPIC and sustainability sourced coffee all over track gearing up for the biggest week in the racing calendar, the Melbourne Cup Carnival. From our coffee caravan, through to 40 different sites on course, we came together to deliver close to 100,000 coffees throughout the 4 day event, that’s right, close to 100,000 coffees to racegoers. But best of all, it was the opportunity to engage directly with the consumer, share the St Remio story and our values and of course, allow people to enjoy a great cup of coffee. DERBY DAY: Penfolds Victoria Derby Day started off with a BANG! After 2 years of lockdowns, it was great to see the track alive again in a sea of black and white. With our first big day at the track, we delivered around 30,000 coffees to guests around the course. We also collaborated with major partner, Lexus in LANDMARK to bring their guests a bespoke coffee moment with our specially roasted Australian coffee and of course, our custom designed San Remo Café Racer which sat perfectly alongside an exclusive preview of the X One Grinder.

LEXUS CUP DAY: The big day had arrived and despite the forecast (yes, rain, hail and shine or in the case of CUP DAY, all three!) the crowds came racing back to the track for the biggest day on the calendar. The coffee was flowing to warm up the guests alongside Espresso martinis. Espresso martinis I hear you say?! Yes, we do that too! Thanks to our special collaboration with Melbourne Martini, we served guests across the entire racecourse coffee in all formats, from lattes to martini’s – no forecast was going to dampen our parade! KENNEDY OAKS DAY: Still buzzing with adrenaline from the last two HUGE race days, the team was on fire and ready for day number 3, otherwise known as Ladies Day. The fashion was bright, beautiful and flowing just like our coffee.  We celebrated the day with Lexus Australia at LANDMARK and celebrated our collaboration with the iconic brand alongside Victor Churchill, Etta, Raconteur, Hermetica Flowers and Mecca. PENFOLDS STAKES DAY: Racegoers were treated to an epic day of sunshine… (FINALLY) and it was the perfect day to bring the whole family out! With espresso martinis flowing, coffees pumping, and hot chocolates for the kids, it was an amazing day to celebrate our last hoorah! We even got some familiar faces behind the coffee machine this year (our next generation of barista!) As the day wrapped up, we could hardly believe after all of the planning, the week had come to an end. As our first major event, we are incredible proud of what we have been able to achieve with the support of amazing people around us.

As the 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival wraps up, we want to say a huge thank you to Victoria Racing Club for giving us the platform to tell our story and continue making a difference on the lives of growers at origin. We can’t wait to see what the next 3 years brings as we continue our partnership and you best believe we are already gearing up for another AMAZING spring racing season! But we are on course all year and look forward to serving you throughout the year at the many race days on the calendar.
